browser - Can I install an old java plugin? -
is there way install old version of java plugin in of browsers (ie, firefox, chrome or opera)? want able test set of applets without digitally signing them, oracle's crazy signing policy making impossible. appletviewer won't cut me (the applets interact each other , javascript on same page). seems impossible applet signed without paying money somewhere along line, , can't bothered that...
i still have old jdk 1.5 installed in addition jdk 1.8; there way of convincing browser use it? maybe old browser, if can find 1 somewhere? (i have copy of netscape 3 somewhere, might bit too old...)
any suggestions welcomed, except "sign applets"!
of course there several ways test applets:
- sign applet self signed certificate , add certificate certificate store (java , browser)
- get trial certificate of 1 of many officals cas , sign applets
- decrease security slider in java system properties - if have older java version installed (e.g. java 1.7.17 available in java download archive @ oracle)
- test webpage/applets different browsers. ie has not such strict rules regarding applet security chrome or firefox (they deactivate plugin default etc.)
but please note, solutions local testing , not productive environment...
