solr5 - How to upgrade Solr 5 version already in production on Linux (installed as a service)? -


what best way update solr 5 version in production (in other words installed service) on linux? have installed solr 5.0 (via service installation script) , need upgrade solr 5.2.1. realizing of config files need changed take advantage of recent changes, after stopping current instance, best way run new solr 5.2.1 service installation script or untar 5.2.1 solr-5.2.1.tgz /opt or else? fortunately, have simple set (not solrcloud).

after looking /opt folder obvious need untar solr folder , change solr symbolic link point new version. should work of time keeping in mind occasionally, jay pointed out, there changes solr files possibly require more this.
