google compute engine - What is the so huge "Network Internet Egress from APAC to China"? -


i have been running 20 servers in google cloud platform.

this month 7days passed, have charged $546.76 "google compute network internet egress apac china 2,471.65 gb" suddenly. , still has been increasing.

at first, have not provided webserver or service china publish, vm instances work cron or crawler server.

and have checked network "egress", means output think, every our servers in google cloud platform, couldn't find output huge traffic 2,471.65 gb. huge amount output traffic strange me.

so know
1, charged traffic? getting attack china ?
2, how can make sure server send many traffic china ?
3, have pay google full charge if such unexpected traffic fee ?

  1. you're being charged because you're sending traffic china, perhaps in response requests users in china sending server. whether it's attack or not figure out, based on service's typical usage patterns, , more importantly, logs server.

  2. if don't want send traffic china, set firewall rules drop such traffic rather respond 404 or other error page: remember, response traffic counts "egress" , charged @ standard egress rates.

  3. yes, because google provided service of sending traffic china, hence, google had paid fees send traffic on behalf. if want dispute charge, see support site , follow links billing.
